I am NOT a doctor, lawyer, or therapist, but I have a vast amount of knowledge on bipolar disorder for both the person who is supporting someone with the disorder and the person who has the disorder.
Like you, I?m all too aware of the devastation that bipolar disorder can cause in a family. How do I know? Because my mother has been suffering from bipolar disorder for much of her life. My family made many mistakes in the way that we handled my mother?s problem until I decided to do something about it and find a way to help my mother and the millions of other individuals and families who live with bipolar disorder.

Dear David,
To be honest i'm not sure if you're emails have helped at all- you see the thing is i stumbled upon your emails while tring to find a little enlightenment about Bipola because i had a nervous breakdown in March. i spent 12 days in a psychatric unit & because i was seperated from my young children i acted differently to how i usually act, a little OCD to say the least. my mum, who died 6 years ago suffered sczophrenia, manic depression & dibetes & died weighing over 22 stone so i suppose all my life i've live with the goal of not being like my mum. i wanted to know if maybe i'm wrong & have what she had, i wanted to know how to deal with the events that i couldnt control as i dont want to be dependant on drugs just on chance that i may have an "episode" again -this is the 3rd & i'm 33.
i wanted to read the book you'd published but since your based in USA & i'm here in the UK i dont seem to be able to get hold of it so i read you emails with mild interest as i'm a nosey person & want to see if these people you talk about are like me or not.
If you think your helping somebody you must be. i mean your emails might be just junk to 99 people but to just one person they may be a god send so keep fighting the good fight i say & if you wanna send me your book my address is :

Help! I cannot handle my dad when he goes into an episode--which he is now doing. I feel, worthless, guilty and sick. I try to remove myself but his abuse is impossible to escape even if I detach from him--which I try to do.
