Lithane
Manufactured by Pfizer, Lithane is a drug also sold publicly under the names Eskalith, Eskalith CR, Cibalith-S, Lithobid, Lithonate, and Lithotabs in the United States and Carbolith, Duralith, and Lithizine in Canada. This drug is used for treating some forms of depression as well as manic episodes associated with mental illness such as Bipolar Disorder. Because individuals with Bipolar deal with significant mood swings, Lithane helps to create a calmer, less agitated existence. In addition to helping with mood, Lithane is also beneficial in reducing the frequency of manic states. Other benefits of Lithane include relief from cluster headaches and Neutropenia, which is a blood condition. Although questions remain as to how Lithane stabilizes a person's mood, experts do know this drug works with the body's central nervous system. Because of this, the individual can gain better control over emotions, which helps makes coping with life much easier and more enjoyable. Because the level of effectiveness is dependent on how the drug is prescribed, patients and their doctor need to work closely together. Manufactured in various forms to include capsules, slow-release capsules, tablets, extended-release tablets, and syrup, this drug can easily be handled by most individuals. For Lithane to work at optimal level, it must be taken daily at regularly scheduled times. Although most people taking Lithane have little to no side effects, some potential risks include tiredness, drowsiness, weight gain, hand tremors, increased need to urinate, and increased thirst. Even with these possibilities, Lithane is an excellent potion for treating Bipolar. Back to Drug List |
