I am the same way....racing thoughts....a while ago they would run me ragged...never stopping, mind always just a going..and yes the insomnia...which I still deal with on certain time....alot of times I cannot sleep for a long periods of time, because my mind is going......
I have tried to the relaxation tapes...meditation...which I cannot seems to grab because again I am too hyper minded...but music helps me calm the mind so to speak...so I listen to all sorts of music to hlp slow the mind down....
But I still deal with the racy mind...and the partial insomia...if I am not careful...my insomnia comes full tilt so I try and be very careful with that, because after a while I burn out so bad....
The mind can be a interesting place at times....

Glad you found something to help you! Sleep is wonderful. In fact, I should be asleep right now, since the baby is finally down. And I know sleep helps me control episodes. And limiting junk food too.... oops.
