Hey I’m just explaining the fish oil thing. For many bipolar people some natural supplements such as fish oil tablets and well… fish can actually help mood swings as well. I’ve been taking fish oil tablets along with my medication for a good year now and it’s made a small but noticeable difference in my mood. I mean hey, if it gives a small benefit why not? Kinda like saving money, if theres a sale, why not buy it if you need it? Though the money saved could be only a dollar, that dollar is a dollar not spent. :-) that’s just my opinion though

In response to “Even Meds don’t make Bipolar Disease Easy”.

For twenty years now we have been unsuccessful with the Meds, they work for so long and then stop.

Meds can help with bipolar illness, but just adding another pill to a pharmaceutical salad of pills does not necessarily help. In my son’s case, he was on five separate meds, including two antipsychotics, lithium, inderal, and klonopin, and he was completely out of control, including showing symptoms of tardive dyskenesia. After a change of doctors and only ONE medication, he is the best he has been since he got sick twenty years ago.

Hi Dave,
the article on fisih oil or more appropriately oimega 3 is very interesting -Racheltakesit as a supplement not instead of her meds she also has 1 main meal out of 3 afresh lycooked fish meal- now I don’tknow wether the fish thing works or or not-but it sure is a healthy alternative to a high meat and carbo diet she had been on.Omega 3 in the diet is great for alsorts of reasons but can’t take the place of medications.
regards
Shona

Omega3 is supposed to be good for a well balanced brain and energy. My doctor suggested it for my menopausal moods. It probably could help bipolar moods in addition to prescribed meds.
