Accused Newsom stalker arrested SAN RAMON: Police arrest man on suspicion of robbery, burglary,
assault with a deadly weapon and battery on a police officer Han Shin, the Union City man accused of stalking San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, is being held in a Martinez jail on $250,000 bail after police say he robbed the home of a former lover in San Ramon and then tried to run over the man's roommate. San Ramon police arrested Shin about 8:45 p.m. Wednesday at his parents' Union City house, said Jimmy Lee, spokesman for the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office. San Ramon police entered the house on Begonia Street to find Shin hiding in a closet, Lee said. "He came out fighting and punched one detective in the nose." An arraignment has not yet been scheduled, Lee said Thursday. About 8:45 a.m. Wednesday, Shin tried to confront a former lover at his house on the 2100 block of Longleaf Circle in San Ramon, Lee said. When the man's roommate told Shin that he wasn't home, Lee added, "Shin forced his way into the home and took several items, including money and a picture." Shin then got in his car and tried three times to run over the roommate, who had followed him outside the house, Lee said. At one point, it appeared Shin hopped the curb in pursuit, San Ramon police said. Shin was arrested on two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, and single counts of robbery, burglary and battery on a police officer, Lee said. He is facing a charge of evading a San Mateo County sheriff's deputy. Shin proclaimed his innocence in a phone interview Wednesday with a MediaNews reporter. He also said he no longer takes medication for bipolar disorder. Last week, a San Francisco judge ordered Shin to stay at least 100 yards from Newsom after he talked his way into the mayor's apartment building shortly after midnight on Feb. 15. Shin's parents had a restraining order against him after he was charged with threatening to kill his 76-year-old mother last November. Featured Article:TAKE ACTION!I received an email from a person the other day. She asked me why so many great successful people, leaders, business people, etc. have Bipolar Disorder. I have long had a theory (but I don't have any kind of study to point to which would prove my theory). Here's what I think, though: In order for you to start something, whatever it is: open a daycare center, write a book, build a website, go to college, discover the cure for cancer, create world peace – you have to do something really important. Know what it is? You have to TAKE ACTION! Click here to read the entire article. Featured Article:A Basic Coping Strategy for Survivors of Bipolar DisorderThere are many ways that I’ve tried to cope with having bipolar disorder, as I’m sure you have as well. One of the most basic ways I’ve discovered as a basic coping strategy to deal with bipolar disorder is the Serenity Prayer:
It doesn’t matter whether you are “religious” or not, the prayer still works. |
