Bipolar individuals need to be particularly cautious of bitter root judgments. The bible states, “See to it that no one misses the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many.” (Hebrews: 12:15) In our lives bad things happen to us from time to time. Bitter root judgments are our sinful reaction to circumstances in our life.  They are condemning judgments against other people. For example: the inability or refusal to forgive somebody.  Bitter root expectancies are like the following example.  A girl grows up with a hyper-critical father. She grows up and marries someone just like him.  She has formed a picture of what all men are like (she has a bitter root expectancy of what men are like in this world).  She is withdrawn from her husband and he tries to make appeals to her because he feels lonely.  She sees this as criticism and she pulls further away and criticizes her husband. All of this has to do with God’s law and specifically the law of reaping what you have sown(Galatians 6:7).  I had so many bitter root expectancies and judgments in my life from childhood where most are formed. Life was hard enough being bipolar but to add to that these sinful, destructive patterns in life…it was murder.  I had people to forgive. I needed to repent. I had entire belief systems formed in my mind about what men were like and it was not fair or right to hold onto such poisonous views.  It was causing a sick cycle of events to transpire in my life that killed me and those around me slowly. Bitter people contaminate everyone around them. It is like they are diseased. It was high time that I take control of things. Actually, I let the Lord sit on the throne of my life and lead me to prayer counselors who directed me through deep prayers of deliverance.  The stranglehold lost it’s vice grip on me and I was free indeed.  I must remind myself to routinely check for bitter root judgments and bitter root expectancies not to take over my life like ivy on the side of a house.  They are responsible for so much that goes wrong in people’s lives. Bipolar people need to awaken themselves to these truths so these destructive forces will be untangled from their lives and they can have more peace of mind and health to soar to new heights.  Bipolar people need to be as unencumbered as possible. Most people are not unscathed from childhood.  Most people have had some type of injury.  Once a bitter root judgment is formed or a bitter root expectancy is formed, then a pattern of doom begins and will continue until the individual takes those things to the cross to die. Once forgiveness and repentance happens and prayers of resurrection take place confirming that new life giving patterns will now be underway, that individual is free.  It is imperative to watch out for these two seductive evils and forgive quickly and bless your enemies or even those close to you that hurt you. We are all just human. I always try to remember that Christ forgave me before I knew Him and He has forgiven me for all that I will ever do.  I am the chief of sinners (1 Timothy 1:15) and yet “His banner over me is love.”        ( Song of Solomon 2:4)
